Short update on SAP middleware terminology (05/2021): After all the renaming of SAP Cloud Platform into SAP Business Technology Platform we have to deal with the following components for Application Integration:
Main CLOUD-Component is SAP Integration Suite with the following main services
- SAP Cloud Integration (f.k.a. CPI / HCI)
- SAP API Management
- SAP Open Connectors
- SAP Integration Advisor
- SAP Event Mesh (f.k.a. Enterprise Messaging) is currently not part of the core offering which is bundled as well under the name Integration Suite)
- SAP Data Intelligence
- check out SAP Discovery Center for the complete list of services related to SAP Integration Suite
Main ON-PREMISE-Component is (still) SAP Process Orchestration with
- SAP Process Integration / Advanced Adapter Engine Extended
- SAP PI B2B-Addon (for EDI-based communication)
- SAP Cloud Integration Runtime
- SAP Business Process Management (BPM) & SAP Business Rules Management (BRM) for stateful message processing and user interaction (task management)
- …waiting for the Integration Cell (in 2022?) to take over the on-premise runtime of the Integration Suite and replacing SAP Process Orchestration…
